How to Know You’re in the Perfect Blogging Niche

Spread the love

If you’re still wondering if you’re in the perfect niche, you might not have found it yet. Finding the perfect blogging niche is like finding your perfect soul mate.

Think of it like this, you’ve found that special someone in your life. Every time you look at them, your heart melts. You can’t wait to spend every waking moment with that person.

When you’re together there’s so much to say, you can’t ever stop talking. You have so much in common you start believing you’ve met your soul mate.

It’s hard to imagine your life without this person. In fact, you know you’d be lost without them.

Now, I’m not a relationship expert and neither is Jane.

However, when you start thinking about your chosen niche differently and think about how it makes you feel, you’ll understand what I’m talking about.

The perfect blogging niche is like your Soul Mate

You should be blogging about a niche that you’re passionate about. Something that makes you excited to get out of bed each and every morning.

Without that passion, it’s going to be extremely difficult to keep blogging in your niche months or years.

Most successful bloggers will tell you that it can take years to achieve blogging success. Don’t be fooled into thinking all you have to do is blog for a month and the money will start rolling in.

If you’re not passionate about your niche, it’s going to show in your writing. Your readers will know that you’re in it just for the money.

Can you talk forever about your niche?

I realize that some people have the gift of gab more than others. Many of us are introverts and don’t want to be the center of attention.

However, if you’ve chosen the perfect niche, you’ll be able to talk about it for years. You’ll want to continue educating yourself so you can learn everything about it.

Your goal will be to help your readers. While you may not cure cancer with your blog, it should help your readers in some way.

You’ll understand that you can’t help everyone. But you’ll realize that your blog isn’t meant for everyone. You’re looking for your perfect and loyal follower.

Don’t worry, even if you haven’t found them, just know they’re out there.

Your passion will fuel your blogging

If you’re not passionate about your chosen niche, you’re going to struggle.

Before your blog starts to make money, you’re going to have to write, write and write. Oh, did I mention you’re going to have to write.

You’ll be writing articles for your own blog. Then you’ll be stepping out and writing articles to give away for guest posts like this one I wrote for Jane.

Not to mention, you’ll be creating emails for your autoresponders, creating videos, writing eBooks, creating products, and answering emails from your followers.

If you’re blogging about something you’re passionate about. You won’t mind writing. While you might not the best writer, you know that with time and practice your writing will improve.

Sitting down and writing articles won’t feel like a chore. Eventually, you’ll be able to knock out 1,000 word article in an hour or less.

You’ll start to feel like this is your calling in life.

You’ll work hard to improve

We all want to improve our relationships in some way or another. We work hard to make our partners happy.

Just like blogging, you’ll always be working to improve yourself.

The great thing about starting a blog in your niche is that you don’t have to know everything. You can always continue learning.

The truth is that most bloggers don’t know their niche inside and out. They know that they don’t have to know everything just to get started. It will be an easier road to success if you know something about it when you get started.

Blogging is a learning curve. You’re going to make some blogging mistakes. This doesn’t mean that you can’t succeed.

It just means that you need to continue learning and educating yourself, so you can get better.

You can’t ever stop learning. According to WordPress.com there are 65.3 million new blog posts are published each month.

You’re going to have to find a way to make your blog stand out from all the noise.

You want to impress

Your main goal should to be impress your readers. This is what will draw them in to click on your headlines.

Maybe you’ve caught their attention by your eye-catching colors. Sure, they may be fooled at first. They may even click on some of your articles and browse around for a minute or two.

But don’t be fooled. If your content doesn’t grab them or help them in some way, they won’t come back. This is one of the reasons that so many bloggers will say that you need to start building your email list.

I am not saying that an email list isn’t important. What I am saying is that if your content is great and helps your readers solve a problem.

With time, you won’t have any issues attracting loyal visitors. People who hang on every word you say because they know that you’re genuine and want to help them.

They’ll be magnetized to you. They will wonder where you’ve been their entire life.

Don’t expect overnight results

If you’re one of the lucky ones who have found your soul mate, that’s awesome. If you still haven’t then you know that it takes time to find the right person.

Some people go through life without ever finding their soul mate. However, this doesn’t mean you ever give up trying.

Just like blogging, most successful bloggers have failed at one point or another. This doesn’t mean that they’ve given up.

Most of them (myself included) realized they were in the wrong niche. They’ve sat down and took a long hard look at the way they were trying to make money.

Be honest to yourself

Do you love your niche? If you could blog about anything without having to worry about the money issue, would you still be blogging in the same niche?

If you answered yes, then most likely you have found the perfect blogging niche.

You don’t have to be great to start

Most new bloggers will say they don’t know enough about their niche. There’s so many bloggers who are blogging about the same thing.

Maybe you have chosen to blog about getting rid of your debt? You could share your personal stories of how you’re getting rid of your debt.

On my blog, I share my stories and experiences of how I am moving away from being a WordPress freelancer to a full-time blogger. I do so by writing WordPress tutorials and blogging tips in hopes of helping people start a blog.

Jane shares blogging tips with her readers. She loves sharing her expertise to help bloggers make money from their blog.

Ryan Biddulph blogs about retiring to a life of paradise by sharing his own stories.

If you take a look at successful bloggers most of them share their own life experiences. This is the best way to make your blog unique.

No one shares the same story as you do. Everyone’s writing their own life story daily and it’s time you share bits and pieces of yours on your blog.

What to do next?

Sit down and look at your blogging niche. Ask yourself, if you knew it would take you 3 years to earn any money from your blog, would you still have chosen that niche?

If yes, then you’ve found the perfect niche. Now you just need to blog consistently and let your passion shine through your content.

If your writing isn’t that great right now, give it time to improve.

Make it a point to write at least 1,000 words every day. Practice makes perfect and the more you write in your perfect niche, your passion will start to shine through.

If you want help with writing don’t hesitate to grab Jane’s writing course.

People will become magnetized to you. They won’t be able to help but follow you because they know that deep down inside you truly care about helping them.

Is this your first blog? How long did it take you to find your perfect niche? What’s the story that you’re sharing with your readers? I’d love to know your story, leave your comment below.

Since my niche is a chasm, I have to work hard to fill it. Nevertheless, it's the breadth and depth that excites my passion- so, it's perfect for me.

    Hey Jane and Susan,

Passion is key to growing a successful blog. If you want to win the trust of your audience then you want to show how serious you are about your niche and topics you cover.

The emotions you have for the topics should be carried over to your audience . With that's said, whenever this happens it shows that you're branding yourself well within the niche and this will lead to building authority.

Great share Susan! Have a great upcoming weekend you two !

Loved the blog post. Thanks to Jane for publishing a fantastic piece of content.

Susan, I'm impressed the way you kept me engaged throughout the blog post.

    Mindblowing!

In fact, I'll be looking forward to reading more from you.

As far as blogging niche is concerned, I'm a big believer in choosing the perfect niche. Well, it's not that easy for most of the starters. See, when the clash happens between the profitable niche the blogger is looking at versus the niche the blogger is passionate about, then the smart bloggers navigate through smartly from here.

Writing on things you're passionate about will definitely take you further in your blogging journey.

THANK YOU, Susan, for discussing this!
