There are very many articles in the internet that give out ideas/tips for effective goal setting, that explain goal setting strategies, give training through goal setting workbooks and so on. Successful goal setting is what everyone want. That is, the goals should not lie in the paper but should come true, they should give you a sense of accomplishment.
Why is this so important? Can one live without setting any goals in their life? Yes, absolutely. It is all a matter of preference.
If you want to spice things up in life, if you want to take your life to a higher meaningful level you can consider setting yourself some goals. Well here are some compelling reasons that tell you why you should set goals in everyday life.
Time saver
The first and the foremost advantage of setting goals is that it helps you save tons of your time. When you don’t have a goal or a target, two things can happen:
1. You can be so lethargic that you have nothing to accomplish or answer.
2. You are not lethargic, but are working hard; yet you don’t have a target point or focus, so you spend your energy and time in reaching your goal through long and unplanned routes.
So if you want to achieve more in less time, you need to set appropriate goals. You can have long term and short term goals. You can also have sub-goals to one major goal. When you give yourself something to work on, you know your destination or target and hence you save a lot of time.
Gives you a purpose
As I have just said, when you give yourself a goal, you give yourself a purpose. Will you just pick up the phone if you have no calls to make or receive? Will you board a bus if you don’t want to travel anywhere? Similar is the case of setting goals. Will you work towards something useful, unless you have any idea about what you should achieve? Goal setting gives you a purpose to work on.
Good motivator
When you have something to accomplish, when you have a destination, when you have a purpose to work on, it is a good motivator. Rather than starting your day to office without any goals, if you have a goal to complete project X by the evening, will it not motivate you in a better way to getting things done? In this sense, goal setting can be life changing. It takes you from nowhere to all heights.
Boosted self esteem and confidence

When you have a purpose in your everyday life, when you have action plans for all your goals, when you work in a very systematic manner to accomplish things, doesn’t this sound so high? Yes your self esteem and your confidence gets a quick boost.
Not only from the inside, people from the outside notice that too. You become more reliable, worth contacting and a guru in your field!
Stress management
Setting goals help you manage stress. That may sound vague, but that is how things work. When you don’t have a target your thoughts and actions roam, your ideas get lost in void and your purpose in undefined. This can put you in a lot of stress.
Now that you have not set goals doesn’t mean that you don’t have goals at all. Your life, job, yourself or something else wants you to work towards a particular thing.
Whether you make it a goal and decide to work in an organized way or not purely depends on you. When you choose to work in an organized manner, things are clean and you can be calm, enjoying the outcomes and accomplishment.
Now if you do not want to set goals and work in an organized manner, that doesn’t leave you with an opportunity to not to work towards that goal. You still have to do it, but in a hectic, unorganized manner. So why not choose to set effective goals and work to accomplish them? After all, stress free life is what everyone wants!

No doubt goal setting gives us a way to move on and move on with full of concentration as well as the motivation.
